Assistive technology involves the use of tools and tactics that help remove any barriers that are affecting a person from using technology appropriately. Assistive technology also helps supporting students with connections and knowledge.
2. What are access technologies? Give an example of a type of access technology?
Access technologies are “applications of technology,” that enables student with disabilities to better “access” instructional materials that can be incorporated into the “general curriculum.” These devices help make up for any sensory, cognitive and physical disabilities a person might have. Alternate keyboards and page turners are examples of access technologies.
